MEC – 3 letters that have turned into a well known concept!

At the heart of MEC is Maik Eckhardt, who has successfully combined Top-level athletic performance with business development.

As an elite sport shooter, Maik represented Germany at five Olympic Games: Atlanta, Sydney, Athens, Beijing, and London, and reached the finals three times.

To combine his demanding training and competition schedule with his business ambitions, the business administration graduate founded MEC, a company dedicated to developing innovative products and solutions for sport shooters. Today, MEC is known for producing high-quality shooting equipment and accessories. Many of its ideas and innovations have become well established and are trusted by top shooters as well as shooting clubs around the world.

MEC's publishing department, led by Heinz Reinkemeier, has built an extensive collection of books covering a wide range of topics regarding the different shooting sports disciplines. The books are regularly updated and translated into an increasing number of languages, making them accessible to shooters around the world.

Plenty under one roof

Situated at 20 Hannöversche Street in Dortmund, the MEC store covers two floors with a total area of 700 square metres. We offer an extensive selection of products and innovations related to shooting sports. The store features its own shooting range and a variety of specialised services, such as gun maintenance, guided training sessions and ammunition testing.

In addition to developing and manufacturing equipment and tools, we have built an broad catalogue of educational resources covering the different shooting disciplines and techniques. This includes teaching posters, books, relaxation programmes and instructional videos.  We also provide professional photography, information, and advertising services to companies and organisations within the shooting sports industry.

The ideas behind MEC products are developed by Maik Eckhardt and Johann Zähringer in collaboration with top shooters from all over the world. Every new concept is turned into a prototype, and then are subsequently and thoroughly tested. Once after a prototype has proven its performance and reliability, it will be then released for construction.

The products from centra and MEC complete each other perfectly, because they are created with the same philosophy. Together our workpieces guarantee a high standard of quality and precision, because we know the value of these virtues in competitions.

Commensurable with Rheinfelden being the ‚mekka‘ of sight techniques, the interests in Dortmund evolve around mounting. So what would be more obvious than to consolidate our assortments and to present them conjointly? And this is how an unbeatable team came about!

The ergonomical shapes of our products provide comfort and support while you are in your shooting position, while the stylized design gives your rifle an elegant appearence. MEC products are also known for introducing innovative ideas, many of which have later been adopted throughout the industry.
To ensure consistent quality and precision, all products are manufactured by highly specialised precision engineering companies. Each component is machined from a single piece of material, and the surfaces are carefully finished and protected to provide long-lasting durability.

The whole is greater than the sum of its parts. With this in mind, you can think of MEC as a dynamic company that is active in nearly every sector of the shooting sports. We are involved in elite sports and use that experience to develop “hardware,” such as stock caps, rear sights, and high-quality stock fittings. The “software” consists of instructional materials and practical training programs.

Everything we do is driven by our love for shooting sports. Whether the goal is the qualification to the Olympic Games, the German Championships, or the bench-rest cup in the neighbouring village, millions of shooters around the world share the same challenges, which one gets to grips with for better or worse in every competition.  Victory is not necessarily the most fascinating aspect; it is more the constant pursuit of improvement and the desire for the next try, which once more will confront us with some hours of excitement.
